Start exploring Baku. Panorama of the city presented to the height of the mountainous part of a television tower clearly gives an idea of the contrasts and the extent of Baku, the horseshoe bay of Baku. The city is shaped like an amphitheater, descending down to the Caspian Sea. Tour covers the central part of the city showing the most interesting historical and architectural sites. Visiting of "Old Town” or “Inner City”. The territory of”Inner City” - 22 hectares, which represents a small fraction of the total area of Baku (44,000 hectares). However, the concentration of architectural and historical monuments, dictates the need for this excursion into a separate and make this part of Baku, perhaps the most interesting to explore. Maiden Tower (XII century), Palace of Shirvanshahs (XV century), Castle Synyk Gala, Caravan Saray, Juma Mosque - this is not a complete list of attractions of the old Baku. Carpet Museum - A new carpet museum designed in the form of a rolled carpet will open in the Baku seaside park (boulevard) by the end of 2012. The Azerbaijan Ministry of Culture and Tourism said the four-storied building will be the first museum complex in Azerbaijan. Carpet-weaving art is one of the ancient crafts in Azerbaijan. For centuries the Land of Fire has been famous for its unique carpets, which nowadays are exhibited in many world museums - in the Louvre in Paris, in the Hermitage in Saint-Petersburg, in the Victoria and Albert in London, in the Textile in Washington, in the Topkapi in Istanbul, and others. In November 2010 the Azerbaijani carpet was proclaimed a Masterpiece of Intangible Heritage by UNESCO. We invite lovvers of carpet to special carpet weaving master class here. Overnight in Baku.

After breakfast we will visit: National Flag Squere - President Ilham Aliyev signed an order on establishment of National Flag Square in Baku on November 17, 2007. The same day, the President signed another order to declare November 9 as the National Flag Day. The foundation stone for the National Flag Square was laid on December 30 2007 with the participation of President Ilham Aliyev. The inauguration ceremony opening of the National Flag Square took place on 1 September 2010. On an area of 60 hectares created the entire infrastructure. The height of the flagpole installed in the area is 162 meters. Total weight - 220 tons. Width of the flag is 35, length - 70 meters, total area - 2450 square meters, and weight - about 350 pounds. May 29, 2010 the organization "Guinness World Records" has confirmed that the flagpole of the State flag of Azerbaijan is the highest in the world. Flame Towers - Baku Flame Towers is a striking new addition to the skyline of Baku. Located atop a hill on the Caspian Sea overlooking Baku Bay and the old city center, the three towers were inspired by Azerbaijan’s ancient history of fire worshipping, and will illuminate the city and act as an eternal flame for modern Baku. The goal of the project was to create a low-resolution media façade to display video content, while integrating inconspicuous lighting fixtures into existing architecture. To meet the project requirements, Traxon created a special fixture, to be installed behind the buildings’ windows and give the allusion of ribbons of light. The main challenge of this project was the varying window dimensions, and that the maximum gap between fixture and window frame needed to be less than 50mm. With a flexible mounting solution and intelligent calculation, the project team reduced the overall amount of needed fixtures to only 16 different modular lengths. The entire three-tower installation is controlled by an e:cue Lighting Control Engine fx (LCE-fx) running Emotion, and Video Micro Converters (VMCs). Typically displaying burning flames, the intelligent control system allows for simple lighting show changes to reflect additional animations and graphics for special events, such as the recent 2012 Eurovision Song Contest Yeni Hayat - Yeni Hayat Residence complex commissioned in the year 2004 is one of the most successful projects realized by Yeni Hayat. The said complex covering 11,637 square meters is located in the most prestigious territory of Narimanov district that is one of the most popular residential settlements of Baku city. Yeni Hayat Residence includes 16-storey residential building consisting of 2 blocks, 3 trade outlets and closed parking area. Every detail has been taken into account for welfare of residents: centralized ventilation and conditioning systems, energy efficiency system, electric generator for uninterrupted power supply, regular hot and cold water supply, a modern water filtration system and other services. Cultural Center Heydar Aliyev - The process of democracy and efficient nation building, formation of civil society, conducting profound political and economic reforms in Azerbaijan, as well as the country’s rapid development and recognition throughout the world is inseparably linked with Heydar Aliyev, the national leader of Azerbaijan. The modern nation building process based on the strong foundation of deeply rooted national values, unification of the nation around a commonly-shared idea of the Azerbaijanihood ideology constitutes the fundamentals of Heydar Aliyev’s policy. Despite the fact that Heydar Aliyev’s ideological foundations aiming at the support and promotion of the Azerbaijani language, history, culture, national and spiritual values are strongly upheld in today’s Azerbaijan, there was a necessity for an overall management of activities in this realm. This was the reason for the foundation of the Heydar Aliyev Center pursuant to Decree No.1886 issued by the President of Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on December 29, 2006. In the meantime, the Heydar Aliyev Center cooperates with similar international institutions involved in a broad array of projects in science, education, culture, sports, ecology and other fields. The Center is already recognized as a venue for international conferences, forums and exhibitions. Overnight in Baku.
