Mountain village Lahic
Description
Lahic is a well—preserved Azerbaijani urban-type settlement that lingered in previous centuries. It is a state historical and cultural reserve consisting of memorabilia of the XV–XIX centuries. It is located in the Ismailli region of Azerbaijan, on the southern slope of the Greater Caucasus. The famous tourist route “The Great Silk Road” passes through it.
The locals still live and thrive here. Lahic is a famous craft center and is primarily famous for its copper dishes. To date, tourists can see more than 40 types of crafts here.
Lahic is characterized by a block-by-block development. Medieval cobbled streets, squares and sewers dating back more than 1,000 years. Houses usually do not exceed the height of two floors and are assembled from river stone, interspersed with wooden yards. This architecture is due to the seismic activity of the area.
